Unfortunately, in this day and age, there are few laws that protect the privacy of U.S. citizens. Millions of Americans are being drug tested yearly in the workplace, even when they aren't suspected of drug use. Innocent people do have something to hide: their private life. …Drug tests don't guarantee safety. They don't prevent accidents because they don't address the root problems that lead to substance abuse. The only effective way to select workers is to evaluate their performance on the job. If the negative effects of drug use beings to show in the worker's performance, the employer has a number of options for dealing with it. Should being guilty until proven innocent really be how the workplace deems its employees?
