Vaudeville blues empowered African American women in ways that previously had been unheard of. These women were brought to the top because they had a skill to sing the blues. But also, they were very successful because in their lyrics, they were able to connect to people. In the movie they said that they may not be singing to you, but there is someone out there they are singing to. I am not positive

of blues have given us good music for decades and are still able to sing the blues like nothing has changed. They started a whole new revolution in American popular music. Blacks finally had some power in the music and recording music. They had amazingly high record sales. They got blacks the power in the business they deserved and they had all earned some kind of respect. The blues will never be forgotten.
