the federal government has only provided $2.2 billion to the provinces for roads and highways. Provinces east of Ontario have received $1.96 billion or 89% of the federal funding, while Ontario has received only $96.5 million of the total, or just less than 4.4%. Provinces west of Ontario shared the remaining 6.6%. This is not enough money, and furthermore, its distribution is poorly managed. Toll routes will fix this problem of money distribution and contribute to raising funds to maintain highways.
