family, trying to make a decent living. On the inside you see a young son trying to show his family that he is lucky and at the same time he is destroying himself. There is that word again.....lucky. Lawrence provokes an emotional response towards family value. With his descriptions about God telling Paul who the winner was because he was lucky, is all rooted back to Paul's Mother pulling those ideas inside his head.
