5-New Drug to Fight Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
Abstract (Article Summary)
Health Canada has recently approved etanercept (Enbrel) as the first and only biologic therapy authorized in this country to treat juvenile rheumatoid arthritis sufferers between the ages of 4 and 17 who have had inadequate response to disease-modifying antirhumatismal treatments. In Canada, 1 child out of every 1000 suffers from arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis is the most widespread and debilitating form of the disease.
