Resurrection plays the most important role in the novel. Alexander Manette is
resurrected by his daughter in a mental sense; he is returned to sanity. Charles Darnay is thrice resurrected---twice by Sydney Carton and once by Dr. Manette. Sydney Carton is also twice resurrected. His first resurrection is his change from despair to honor (by Lucie's belief in him), and the second is the "memory" he leaves to the people he loves the most.
