Osmosis Investigation
Aims and Objectives
To determine the effect that varying salt concentration, in a solution, has upon the osmotic ability of potato chips of a given size.
Scientific Background Knowledge
Put simply osmosis is defined as the net movement of water molecules, across a selectively permeable membrane, from a dilute to a concentrated solution.
It is a special form of diffusion because it can only involve water molecules. However, it is not an isolated

my results that the concentration of sucrose in beetroot tissue is approximately 0.5(m). I have drawn this conclusion from obtaining the results of : the percentage change for length was 0 at 0.4(m) and for the percentage change in mass was 0 at 0.6(m) , therefore I can reach the conclusion that the sucrose solution in beetroot is between 0.4 and 0.6. Consequently I can say that it is 0.5(m) as this is the middle integer (whole number) of both results.
