North and South advantages and disadvantage during the American Civil War

The Civil war was the bloodiest war in American history. The South had many advantages at the beginning of the war but they were short term advantages. The South relied heavily on trade from the North but didn't realize it until the North stopped buying their cotton. The North had population and industry on their side of the war. The war took so long because of Southern pride and because of the northern cautiousness. The North were misinformed about the Southerners and what they were capable of so they feared they could win the war if the north took too many chances.
