According to Keddie (2005, pp. 84) "...individuals were said to be socialised into same sex roles with traditional modes of femininity and masculinity". Throughout my life I have been either forced or guided into these modes. As seen in the examples from my life, gender is a large part of my identity.

not have jobs and have government assisted housing. I believe they are taking advantage of their good fortune and thus just doing what they want. I respect those who do try to get employment and become part of the community but it becomes difficult with others. I formed these opinions as to my experience and by what others have said. Thus race is socially constructed by word of mouth and opinions from people like me.
