When one views the ground nearby a black walnut tree, a view of life is very sporadic and almost desolate. chemicals used to initiate the beginning process, thus keeping it at the dormant state even though the conditions of water and sunshine were correct. After time and dilution with water, the seed began to grow, but not as efficiently as the seed in distilled water from the start. This is why some grass is grown under these trees (from the excessive rain diluting the strength of the acidic toxin) but not as much as others.
