In the play 'The Trial' by Steven Berkoff there are many interesting features. I have found the 'nightmare' quality of the piece to be the most striking of these features and I feel that as a director this nightmarish aspect is key to the success of the piece. I would want the chorus of nine people waiting to play a significant part in creating this quality, especially visually.

screen. This is a disturbing combination of sex and violence which I feel would be effective at raising the level of horror at the nightmarish scene. This use of an addition over the face and neck can be seen in the character of 'Bottom' in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' after he has been changed into an ass by Puck. Again it forms a concoction of sex and horror which I found to be very effectual.
