The following five art movements have had an extensive impact during the C20th. They all connect somehow and have continuously grown from one another by their agreements and disagreements with the various movements. Impressionism (1870-1910), was the first real art movement to occur during the C20th, also the first to break traditional conventions. At the beginning of the century, a minor number of people could truly accept this new discovery of art, but as time passed it then became a popular creation for leisure and entertainment. A masterpiece in its own rights. All these movements began as lesser ideas but as they matured they gained acceptance from fellow artists, art critics and eventually the public.
