…been "yielding to pressure" (document 7) but it was necessary to keep the people happy. Nobody wanted to go to war, and nobody was ready. Everybody knew that the war was going to happen, the fact is that they needed a few years to rearm and strengthen their countries until they could fight and win. Appeasement delayed the war for the length of time needed to get stronger, which was a good idea and quite justified.
