*Morphology; this is the shape and size of the particles that make up the matter.
*Composition; this is the elements and the compounds the matter is composed of.

*The Objective lens focuses the scanning beam onto the chosen part of the specimen.
*Interactions occur inside the specimen when the beam hits it which are detected with various instruments, they count the number of interactions and display their findings on a pixel (the more reactions the brighter the pixel).
