example, he tells Christian that Roxane loves him, and not Cyrano. Also, Cyrano protects Ligniere from the angry mob of one-hundred men. Last, Cyrano guards Christian from danger when Roxane asks him to do so, even though it is conflicting with his interest of his love for Roxane. These show that Cyrano was a principled man and a good friend.
