The republic of Chile is a wonderful country on the coast of Southern South America. It borders the South Atlantic Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean, between Argentina and Peru. As of July 2002, Chile had 15,498,930 people; 4.3 million of them live in the capital of the country, Santiago. Chile has a surface area of 292,133 square miles. Chile is a very contrast country. …is located 2294 miles west of the Chilean mainland. There is a runway in the center of the island owned by NASA for emergency landings of the shuttle. When visiting Chile, a great place of historical interest is Valparaiso, the seat of Chile's parliament. There are also many archeological sites of interest, including Camino del Inca, the road the Incas used; the geoglyphs in the Atacama Desert; and the Tatio geysers in San Pedro de Atacama.
