Biography of Gustav Klimt Gustav Klimt lived from 1862 to 1928. He was born on July 14th of 1862. His parents were vagabonds, Ernst Klimt was his father and Anna Klimt (born as Finster) was his mother. Gustav was their second child. At the age of 14 he got a scholarship for the "Kunstgewerbeschule" (artwork school) in Vienna. He studies at his school until he is 21. …he gets the first price for his painting "Tod und Leben" (death and life). He also gets lots of critic. Schile, Oscar Kokoschka, Antony Faistauer and Klimt show their paintings at the exhibition of the "Bund osterreichischer Kunstler" (organization of Austrian artists) in the berlin secession. In 1917 he became honor member of the "Akademie der bildenden Kunste" (academy of building arts) in Vienna and Munich. Klimt dies on February 6th 1918 because of a heart attack.
