Not long after the end of World War Two, Korea was divided into two areas of responsibility at the 38th parallel. The southern area was controlled by the Americans and the northern area came under the control of the Soviet Union. The relationship between North Korea and Australia still remains strong today. There is a signifigant amount of trade between the two countries and many North Koreans enjoy travelling here. This cannot be said for South Korea though. It still remain a communist country and their are tensions between The United States and their allies. One can only hope the uncertainty between the countries can be resolved and that a peaceful relationship be the outcome.
