I think August wilson's play "the piano lesson" tells us that although there is nothing
wrong with persuing the American dream, it should not be at the expense of ones heritage
or culture. It also showed the difficulties in releasing the past and moving forward in

opposite from Boy willie. I feel sorry for her because everybody should have dreams.
August Wilson has no regard for the American dream. His opinion is that if it (American
dream) cannot be achieved without having to give up once culture and history and then it
is not worth it.
