A quick history of the jet engine

The jet engine Sir Isaac Newton discovered the jet principles in the 18th century. This was base on the theory that "to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction" (third law of Newton). (Ref pictures in Annexe) Those developments had a huge impact on air travel in the recent years, driving the cost of operating down therefore increasing air travel. The future trends of the developments are concentrating now on environmental issues such as ways to improve fuel consumption and reduce noise, very far from the original idea of permanently wanting to go faster.
