In Frank McCourt, we see an individual who looked at incredible harshness, learnt that he had to make some efforts himself to pull himself out of the mire of poverty, and did so. To his credit, he learns wisdom, and goes on to a brighter future, providing a pattern which we can all as readers in a sense, emulate.
