How the Bible Came to be

Several different materials were used in the writing of the Bible. The Bible was written on papyrus, which is a material that was chosen for its durability. However, papyrus -- though more durable than other materials that could have been chosen -- was still very much a perishable material. Jesus' recognition of the Old Testament Canon can be found in the New Testament [Luke 24:44] where he referred to the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings (he mentioned the Psalms specifically -- probably because it is the largest book of the writings).
